    3D Plugin : 3Delight 5.0 For Maya

3Delight is a fast RenderMan®-compliant renderer designed to produce photorealistic images for serious production environments. Some of its features include ray tracing, global illumination, motion blur, depth of field, subdivision surfaces, programmable shaders, quality antialiasing and antialiased multi-depth shadow maps. It is available for a wide variety of platforms, including Windows, MacOS X, Linux and IRIX.

The current version of 3Delight is 5.0. Updates are provided on a regular basis (every 4 to 6 months).

    3Delight Background

3Delight was first made publicly available in July of 2000. It had been under development for a few years by a group of software developers. Their rendering experience finds its roots in the early 1980s, while their RenderMan® experience began in the early 1990s.

We prioritize the development of new features for 3Delight based on the needs of our paying customers, some of whom are using it to produce long form animation for the entertainment industry.

Since 3Delight runs on some fairly large render farms (ex. photo1, photo2), render speed has always been a top priority in order to minimize equipment overhead and cost.

Your feedback is appreciated. If you have any specific requirements, please let us know. Your suggestions and requirements have a direct impact on our development priorities.

And if you find you require specific developments immediately (ex. shaders, plug-ins, or even a consultation, etc.), please let us know. We are available for a fee, either hourly or based on a firm quote, to assist you.

You can contact us at info@3delight.com.

    Tactile Ink from Darkling Simulations

In Development: Tactile Ink merges painting, procedural textures, and real-time shading to create next-generation game content.

    • Real-time shaded texture painting
    • Superior 16-bit normal and texture map output
    • Seamless procedural tiling

Technology has finally caught up with the vision.

Tactile Ink allows you to paint with procedurals the way you’ve painted with simple colors for years - but without the tedium. One brushstroke adds reflectivity, cracks, specular. Push and pull the canvas to create bump. Completely procedural, this is not stamping bitmaps. Tactile Ink delivers infinite variety and resolution.

The screenshot below demonstrates the power of the Text tool and the realism of procedural paints. Imagine what Tactile Ink will do in the hands of a real artist - you.
